Evidences of God’s Grace in 2011

“Your spiritual history is marvelous and interesting, even if crazy at times. It’s the history of God working in you.”

I was motivated by this blog post to write out a list of things which had happened to me in 2011 and through which God had guided me. It was a really beneficial thing to reflect on, especially as 2011 was a particularly turbulent year for my family. Would you also take half an hour out of your day to praise God was the year that’s passed? If you’re willing to share, I’d love to read.

Here’s my list:

Peter Vaartjes passed away. A lot of pain for my whole extended family.
Completed my second year of university, and finished all my first year subjects!
House-sat on my own for a number of weeks.
Listened to sixty sermons in sixty days.
Finished 2 out of the 5 years of my cadetship
Went skiing in Perisher.
Worked with some seriously amazing people, in particularly the team I’m in now.
My Gran almost passed away early in the year, but has by God’s grace recovered greatly.
Won our Volleyball competition!
Got to work in a customer service role, something I’ve never done before and grew a lot from (although at times it was tough)
Travelled to Hawaii and had a brilliant time!
My second cousin was diagnosed with brian cancer and passed away at the end of the year, leaving his wife and three grown sons.
Went to Engage Conference in Katoomba (and chatted with John Piper!)
Led and got to know a great group of young people at our youth group.
Read a heap of great books and learnt a lot about Christ
Saw the Sydney NYE fireworks for the first time!
Our church had it’s 60th anniversary
My mum’s aunty passed away this year.
Studied three units in the Moore College PTC.
Memorised Philippians, and loved it.
Holidayed in Robe (South Australia) with family.
I publicly professed my faith.
